

Emberá Drúa - Travel the Chagres River
The Emberá Drúa community is situated within the Chagres National Forest, along the banks of the Chagres River, the largest in the Panama Canal watershed. This community was one of the first Emberá communities in the area to welcome tourists.
Activities and Experiences
- Learn about Emberá history and culture
- Observe and participate in traditional dance to the rhythms of chimbombo music
- Try on traditional clothing
- Receive traditional, symbolic body paint using ink from the jagua fruit
- Learn about the design and production of traditional handicrafts
- Learn about traditional medicinal plants
- Eat traditional Emberá cuisine
- Take a boat trip up the Chagres River in a dugout canoe
- Learn some of the Emberá and Spanish languages
- Total Duration: Approximately 8 hours, including transport. Overnight options also available.
- Location: One-hour drive from Panama City, followed by a 45-minute trip in a dugout canoe.
