About RedTuri

REDTURI PANAMA (Indigenous Tourism Network of Panama), is a 100% Indigenous non-profit organization that represents a network of Panamanian Indigenous communities dedicated to the development of sustainable, community-based indigenous tourism. The communities in REDTURI’s network span the isthmus of Panama, and represent numerous Indigenous groups: the Guna, Emberá, Ngäbe, Bugle, Naso Tjër Di and Bribris.

Gilberto Alemancia

Soguiguili and Gilberto, the co-founders of REDTURI, are members of Panama’s indigenous Kuna community. They founded REDTURI due to their passion for developing indigenous tourism in Panama sustainably, and they are well-renowned advocates and experts on indigenous tourism. 

​

Moreover, Gilberto is a pioneer of Indigenous tourism in Panama, having been dedicated to it for over three decades. He spent over 23 years at the Panamanian Tourism Authority (ATP), where he served as the Liaison to Indigenous Peoples, and also coordinated press and FAM trips. In addition to their work with REDTURI, Soguiguili is the dance director of the Kuna dance group USKALU, and Gilberto is a professional photographer whose work focuses on indigenous peoples and nature.​

They also worked on the preparation of the Indigenous Tourism Law (Law 290 of March 24, 2022) “National priority in Promotion and development of Sustainable Indigenous Tourism in Panama” and in its regulation of this law 290 of Indigenous Tourism of Panama.
